America’s Got Talent finalists Cole and L.D. Miller plan to appear in a “welcome home” concert with The Clayton Miller Band from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday in downtown Lafayette street.

But first, the band members must wait for official word Tuesday from the Lafayette Board of Works that the concert may proceed as planned.

Cole and L.D. Miller have advanced to the finals of the NBC reality show and are expected to compete for the $1 million prize Aug. 16 and 17, according to their mother, Tammy Miller.

Today, Tammy Miller said details about the Lafayette concert are not complete, but that the band will probably “play one of our regular shows.” There would be no charge to attend the concert.

NBC is hoping to film the show in preparation for the America’s Got Talent finals, and the network is scheduled to film the band for three days in and around the Lafayette area, according to the boys’ uncle Kevin VanGorder, owner of the Java Roaster.

VanGorder filed a request at 10 a.m. Monday with the Lafayette clerk’s office requesting Third Street between Main and Columbia be closed to vehicle traffic between 4 and midnight Saturday for the concert. The earlier time is for concert set-up. The Java Roaster is on that block.

The clerk’s office confirmed the request had been filed Monday. However, the request is not on the Board of Works agenda and has not gone through the necessary channels, such as the police department, before being forwarded to the board, according to Deb Puetz, board secretary. The board may or may not elect to consider the matter.
