American Idol’s Simon Cowell is certainly busy these days. If you’ve auditioned for his latest show “America’s Got Talent” which is scheduled to premiere this summer on NBC, you know they were looking for all kinds of talent, from singers to dancers, comedians, magicians, to perform before a panel of celebrity judges. Cowell will be among the executive producers of the show. As reality shows continue to soar, it’s not surprising that people don’t mind being humiliated if the tradeoff is TV exposure.
If I had talent. LOL. I might just want to perform. Who else has auditioned?

My hubby tried out for the show 3 weeks ago in NYC…it’s been a long 3 week wait, and no word yet. Anyone out there hear if they’ve moved on yet?
Would be interested to learn since there is so little info available on updates etc. If you know anything,please post a brief comment cuz I’m sure there are many wondering the same. Thanks!

They just added two more days of auditions this weekend
ok…here is the scoop om our audition…my wife and i are a musical group..i play guitar and sing back up and my wife sings lead…so we showed up to chicago around 9:45 and were in line a bit after 10am…we finaly madeit inside the hotel around 1pm maybey a bit earlier…once in side we turned in our paperwork and headed upstairs …this is when things got strange…cameras where every where… when we entered the ballroom i talked to a producer to let him know what i needed for my act…i was under the impression there would be a sound system in one of the rooms…he said ok the we sat and waited…and waited…and waited…they were not calling #s… thery were randomly picking people to audition…we waited patiently…and waited some more…people came and left …they did interviews all around us..it was as if we were invisable…finaly i got the nerve to ask what was going on and when we might audition…he said we were going to a different room and that we would bee soon…it was now after 4pm…finaly they motioned for us …took us up the elevator…when we came out we were in a line of about 8 people…mostly singers…each went in, sang a song..and came out…i was getting nervous…one by one we were getting closer…finaly we were up …we were the last to audition all day…so we go in… i set up my amp…while my wife gave the judges some tshirts… i plug in my guitar and strum a chord…then a guy whom im told is the co executive producer exclaims…”your through to the next round” unfortunately he was joking…(although my guitar did sound particulary awesome)… so we stand on the x and answer a few questions…then they ask what we will be singing …”an original called..(i wont post the song name for animinity)” they asked what its about and we explained they seemed very impressed…so we began our song…and we kicked but …it was awesome…the entire time every one in the room was smileing ear to ear…looking back and fourth as if to say wow!! these guyes r good!!!about half way thru we recieved a motion that we can stop…they all said it was great… then… the co executive producer read a few excerptd off our questionaires outloud…saying it was very cool
i wont go into detail…”do you have another song? he asked…yes…so after another brief explanation…we began singing…again lost of nodding lots of positive gestures!!a bout half way thru they stopped us…”have you been interviewed?” they asked…No we hadnt…so they told us to go find so and so and tell him we must be interviewed…cool!!!!!”but before you gostate your phone number for the camera”they said…so we did…then i head out of the room and begin packing up my stuff as the production assistant coms up and exclaims”you guys rock!!! wow!!! best all day!!” and lots of great things like that!!as i finish packing up my stuff the so and so we are supposed to find…finds us and says they called him and said they must interview us…sweet.so we head upstairs and he interviews us…then asks us to play a song…so i get my guitar out…and we play for a bit…then in his brittish accent he says “brilliant!!!”…thats the end of the interview…im putting the guitar away again and the mic guy any camera guy came up to us and said we were great and we dont need this show to make it and stuff…so then we left…we were told they would be conducting callbacks in 1 month…so that should be any day now!!!

Atlanta~ One Girl in the group before my son’s group was asked to stay after her group no one from my son’s group was asked to stay but got an email from a singer guitar player a few acts behind us in line that was called back in after his group for an interview so sounding good for those interviewed to make the 1000 to LA.
I didn’t go in with my son he only said the other people were okay his focus was on the fact that the comedian owed him $2.50 for saying bad words (He charges a quarter a bad word).
She gave him a five LOL

My sister audition in NYC on 4/17. She was 15 and a ventriloquist. She was told she should hear something in 3 to 4 weeks. She hasn’t heard anything yet. Has anyone?
They had her doing all kinds of extra things there. We are trying to find pictures, news articles anything as she was interviewed and put before the cameras many times.

My son’s group auditioned in LA, and have been told that they have moved on…. filming starts Monday 5/15… don’t know if that the same for across the country since your auditions were later, we found out about 2 weeks ago….

I auditioned in San Francisco today (5/12/06). I sang 2 songs (verse chorus on each) and was told I’d be contacted in 3 weeks. I wasn’t asked to stay to be interviewed, so I guess that means I won’t be moving on? They added the SF auditions late, so very few (probably 50 each day?) showed up. Good luck to all!
Hi guys I was at the audition in NY back in the middle of April. I am a magician. I auditioned but was not asked to be interviewed, I do this professionally so it would have given my recognition a real boost . I was in line with a woman who did voice impersonations, an old guy who did vantriloquist, and a little 11 year old girl I’ll only mention her first name because of her age (Bianca) who sung, well let me say that this kid blow the paint off the walls in the audition room when she sang. She is not human. I truly thought that there was a 24 year old Mariah Carey in that room. Everyone outside the room with me thought that maybe they had someone else in there that we didn’t see (that may have entered the room earlier) but no it was this little kid. She sung Mariah Carey song “We Belong Together” and than a few minutes later she went into do the crazy high notes that are beyond human. Than she sung a Jennifer Holiday song and I was sold this kid is a singing prodigy. keep an ear out for her.
Got a callback last week. Going to LA week of june 5th.
Hey Josie thats great news!!! What city did you audition in and what will you be doing on the show? My son and daughter auditioned so Hopefully one or both of them will be called too. We will keep an eye out for you!! Congrats and break a leg : )
If you had an audition in NYC in Mid April and were interviewed is that a good sign or have they already called back the NYC crew already? Anyone know?
My son and his band auditioned in NYC in April.. they didn’t do an interview. We have no idea how callbacks are being scheduled.

Hey if anyone that auditioned is listed on IMDB.com I just submitted the show so in a few days it should be up for you to add to your lisiting right now list with (the city you audtioned) Contestant. If you have a call back I would leave off the city and just put Contestant. Good Luck everyone!!!!

The show is getting so close.
They added the auditions in SF last week and no one from Atlanta has posted they have recieved a call back so they still have those as well as we have not heard form anyone that submitted tapes soo I would hold on to your positive thoughts for a few more weeks according to those that have gotten call backs that posted their filming is June 5th so smile and be proud of yourself for even trying!
Also even if you do not get a call back you still might be on the audition shows so we may see your smiling face anyway and think about what that did to Hung on AI!
So let us know if you see yourself on the audition shows cause if you think about it some of them (AI auditioneers) were more memorable than the ones in the finals! (my favorite the short shorts and the sparkley tank top that was a bigger “star” than Paula

Someone mentioned that they thought callbacks for the NY auditions were pretty much over, but I personally didn’t see any posts for NY callbacks…anyone? just hoping…haha
I notice they’ve added yet another audition in Miami for May 25. I’m still waiting for any Atlanta results. There were a lot of us there.
we were at the atlanta auditions and my son who is blind played drums, we got interviewed but no call backs yet, keeping fingers crossed, good luck to everyone.
Hey Little Drummer Boy Mom! I posted about your son and how adorible he was and how kind they were at making sure he felt safe and comfotable. You son was such a sweet heart and your family was too funny! I loved when your Dad said they didn’t know you they just meet you at the store and decided to come along! Fingers crossed for our favorite little drummer boy!
I don’t know what Josie is talking about…. my family tried out in Chicago on April 12… and just this morning my sister called the show in LA and they told her that the show is very far behind with callbacks. They JUST started calling people on Monday, and they told her that they will continue to call for up to three weeks. They had a huge response with the sending in of video tapes, so they had to take more time than expected to review all of those. Yes, taping began this past week, but it isn’t the show itself. It is the preliminary things, like with American Idol. Taping with actual contestants won’t start for a few weeks at least. Just so everyone knows, keep the hope up. You still have three weeks to get a call!
I also went to the atlanta auditions (got interviewed, etc) and it provides a weird sort of comfort knowing that everyone else is as lost as I am in all this. They announced the celeb judges today r&B singer, Brandy; actor, David Hasselhoff; and Piers Morgan (I recognize the name, I just can’t put a face with it.)
Anyway, good luck to all…at this point I’d love to experience a callback vicariously, so please post of any of you guys make it. I’ll be cheering!
And back to obssessively checking my answering machine…

I’m a performance poet (think poetry slams) that auditioned. They auditioned me very quickly once I got there, before tons of people who had been waiting farther ahead of me in line. After I performed, the judges all gave me big compliments, and one of the judges gave me a card to a major talent agency and told me to contact them his recommendation. I was asked to be interviewed afterwards, and was asked to “stand against the wall and look nervous” for multiple camera shots. Haven’t heard back from anyone yet, and with such confident remarks from the judges I’m eager to know if I made it!
For those who auditioned in Atlanta, as of today (May 23), no one has been called back yet. I talked with someone from America’s Got Talent on the phone today, and that’s what I was told. So, we’ll have to continue to wait and see who made it. Good luck !!
